The list can always be modified per trip but be sure to always be prepared. I've always ben over prepared on most trips but have found myself in risky situations that could have been prevented with a little more planning and preparedness.

Fully charged or with extra batteries.
Sunglasses, protective clothing, hat, sunscreen.
Build kits for big and small adventures and don't forget the moleskin.
Even. if its just for the charcuterie, and gear repair & patch kits.
Matches, lighter, flint and/or stove.
A lightweight emergency shelter or bivy.
Its always good to bring a little more than you need. Tasty trail snack are essential.
Always bring extra water. When backpacking, use a filtration system and always have some tablets for emergencies.
Always prepare for weather changes, extra socks are always nice.
